In 2018, Baglady released their initial EP, Luxury Condos, through zine and digital format, but the dream of the band was always to have an LP on wax--something tangible that doesn't just live in the digital realm. Over the next three years, Baglady kept on writing and developed the material that would become Kevin Sputnik and hit the studio with beloved Brooklyn engineer, Adam Reich. With tracking completed in 2021, Kevin Sputnik revisits the spirit of Baglady with both its aggressive and delicate moments with as much fidelity as they could summon. Baglady's debut LP is dedicated to their lost friend, Kevin K., whose memory Baglady hopes to honor with Kevin Sputnik's tidal sonic wave.

Wave 01:48
Why count the lies, That we toss around? If I could only move my tongue so freely Practically everything I say’s misleading And that’s not the worst line That I’ve ever heard It’s in your nature to be all deceiving But every time you speak to me the truth Keeps bleeding out So why count the lies among the autocrats? We can cast aside the inconvenient facts Let’s leave the world alone Why count the lies that we toss around? I lost my count just once before I ate the ground And it’s not the worst time that I’ve ever had But if I could only move my tongue so freely And I can feel my small intestines bleeding out So why count the lies among the autocrats? We can cast aside the inconvenient facts Let’s leave the world alone Two waves collide

For The Show 01:42
All that useful convalescence We missed you while you were away We thought you bit it that time But now that you're fine We’ll get ‘em this time Let’s cut out this scene The story's been washed up for the screen The kids are back and the seasons on track for the show Did they treat you good in Arizona? Did they hate you when you played guitar? I’ve seen a lot of shows since you been gone I missed your opinions I’m sure they’d be snappy Let’s cut out this scene The story's been washed up for the screen The kids are back and the seasons on track for the show For the hits, you seem a bit like me I know that the seasons on track for the show Do what you want to do, say what you want to say It doesn't matter anyway, let’s cut out the shit Let’s cut out this scene The story's been washed up for the screen The kids are back and the seasons on track for the show For the hits, you seem a bit like me I know that the seasons on track for the show But oh what they don’t know

Melonhead 02:56
Joe Chip’s false promise Do they dream of electric sheep? Don’t they know the promises of advertising in your sleep? Slowing I could feel it slipping away From your undersized melonlike head An automatic can’t you tell by the weight? Was this a dream or a non-dream event? I felt about as weightless as dust I felt as free as a pack of matches I could feel your toes running through my grasses It’s like we were slowly rolling back through time Every object regenerating in an older and older manifestation of itself The Roman Empire never ceased to exist We’ve always been chattel to the same forces that enslave us forever Slowing I could feel it slipping away From your undersized melonlike head An automatic can’t you tell by the weight? Was this a dream or a non-dream event?

Oakland 03:00
Now I’m back at your parent’s house After you flew us out to California And we talked about the way things could have been But it’s never the moment, It’s just the potential of moments I’ll see them In Oakland Our old friends In Oakland I’m in the park with you after school Where we stole a few of your sister’s cigarettes And we talked about the way things we’re gonna be But the rest of it only exists as a memory I’ll see them In Oakland My old friends In Oakland No I won’t We walked up the creaky stairs and stared at lonely stuff in your bedroom Don’t they always seem to shrink? But the walls still have your ink You wrote on my walls too, the proofs back in my room, back in Oakland. I’ll see them In Oakland

Shapeshifter 02:15
Ryan lived in an antique store, above his father’s office His father was in the antiquities business and he owed the mafia a lot of money Me and Ryan in second grade we used to play with the ancient trinkets But that was back in the 1990s and we took a picture with Billy Corgan These thoughts are useless tonight It takes a lifetime to forget And I have other things in the meantime The store got raided by the FBI while we played Sega Saturn Ryan cried when he said goodbye, but don't worry, his dad turned Fed and they moved to texas These thoughts are useless tonight It takes a lifetime to forget And I have other things in the meantime I have everything now I got a lot of them now He was an old friend We both stared out the window Like a rotten map was the world below Now I’ll never see you again And you’ll never meet my son And you’ll never hear this song And you never make it out Well, I thought they were cool but you like H2O, Agnostic Front, and Bouncing Souls, and Murphy’s Law, all the bands your older brother saw. There was an old poster in french and tons of useless crap And an old picture of a friend that’s somewhere out in Texas.

Change 02:36
Constant chaos and misunderstanding Get in the way of us living our lives And of making the change that’s about to come Arguments for there own sake They had a place at a time in our lives With much less at stake then we have now Now’s the top because Now’s just for survival In constant arguments, my flawless logic bends And runs into a brick wall with you every time False equivalencies suck precious time Our conversations decline to a point that is gray I always have to be right and run up the score In constant arguments, my flawless logic bends And runs into a brick wall with you every time

Have you lost someone today? And did they mean something to you? Are you concerned about their fate? Do you wish this wasn't true? Do you love someone who’s dead and gone? There's paradise for everyone There’s a paradise for you and a paradise for me After the Armageddon, there’s a paradise for all but I lost someone today. And will you lose someone tomorrow? Will they mean something to you? I couldn't make it in a thousand tries But your my ragnarok tonight Do you love someone who’s dead and gone? There's paradise for everyone There’s a paradise for you and a paradise for me After the Armageddon, there’s a paradise for all but I lost someone today.

Ironbound 02:34
Well Tonight there's something in the wind There the words that you begin to say but never finish And tomorrow, what parts of us are left? Are our questions put to rest? I haven't found a question yet A black mark on my lips as you squeeze through my grip Ever on I'll take the voices with me and whatever else remains will atrophy and splitter But tonight, while everyone can hear you, be true to what you say and say it clear and often, man. A black mark on my lips, squeeze the grease through my grip

Shiny Things 03:15
I need to concentrate on things in my life like making money and playing grab-ass with people and preparing for my future but I get distracted by shiny things I need to focus, I need to focus, I need to focus, I need to focus, I need to focus, I need to focus on stuff but I get distracted by shiny things Well, if this ain't the worst time I’ve ever had, without a constant pulsing sense of dread, I don't have the patience to play this part, now its feels like the first time, I knew it was from the start Oh yeah, apparently all this time I need to focus on shiny things For the first time, for the last time, I need to focus on Kesting

Big State 03:05
Driving along a million miles of empty freeway Remembering when I used to care for this Watch the nothingness pass, The fractured brain that god knows I have is ready to burst A red patch beside the endless drip of asphalt dot dash I saw your body lying out along the road The nothingness passes but the battered thoughts that god knows I have Are ready to breach and all the land that shows in the frame is ready to burn The fractured brain that god knows I have is ready to break

Gas Leak 05:34
Sophie went home for Christmas so that she could see her mom Hostility and fear after her father lost his job His manic episodes had gotten worse and made them scared It was good she’s coming home Sophias coming home She learned from her mother The strange incidents begin After the last time that she left them And their home in Maryland Her poor father would scream at night The cat would stare and smile There was a smell like dust and iron Creeping shadows by the fire And the walls were bleeding glue Hand in hand Dances with bats Feeds them the mice He’s caught in his traps Heavy flows the water That still keeps coming in Hand in hand Cheap and crass Christmas Day Sophie found him hanging by a rope A gas leak had caused hallucinations But they swear he was smiling As he was hanging from the tree And the cat was smiling too Hand in hand Dances with bats Feeds them the mice He’s caught in his traps Heavy flows the water That still keeps coming in Hand in hand Cheap and crass
